Robert Guinness

Robert (Rob) Guinness is a Research Manager in the Department of Navigation and Positioning at the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute, where he leads a research group focused on Intelligent Mobility and Geospatial Computing. His foray into personal data protection research and development began in 2015 with the MyGeoTrust project, which aims to bring new possibilities for privacy protections with respect to location data and mobile devices. He is now spearheading a European-wide initiative called MAGPIE, which aims to bring forth an open source platform for personal data and stresses interoperability among different protocols and standards. Rob originally hails from the United States but has called Finland his home for the past 7+ years.
