Thijs Turèl

Thijs Turèl is trained as a political scientist and currently working in the fields of smart city and energy transition technology. He is particularly interested in the challenges that Smart City technologies pose for the democratic governance of our cities. He is part of the of the Democracy by Design knowledge exchange platform, consisting of Alliander, the AMS Institute and Maastricht University. With this platform, he aims to design smart technology that works with, rather than against democracy.
