Sailing from Tallinn to Helsinki

In addition to the beautiful cities of Tallinn and Helsinki, MyData 2017 takes place on the Gulf of Finland!

Included in the three-day conference pass booked on 26 August or earlier is transport from Tallinn to Helsinki on Wednesday 30 August 2017.

If you booked your three-day conference pass on 27 August or later, you are expected to arrange for your own travel. We are on the 18:00 Viking Line service, bookings can be made here.

After finishing the first day in Tallinn, shuttle buses will take MyData 2017 attendees from the conference venue straight to Tallinn harbour for boarding the ship.

Once onboard, a light meal will be served at the Buffer Restaurant. After having some food, there is an opportunity to join the first un-conferencing session of the conference at the ferry’s Conference Centre.

After arrival in Helsinki, informal evening programme will be organised.

Bring your luggage to the Tallinn venue

To ensure comfortable travel, we ask that all conference guests bring their luggage to the conference venue in Tallinn as they arrive on 30 Aug. There will be a luggage drop off at the entrance and secured area for storage during the day.

Do not leave your luggage at your hotel if you’re staying in one, as we’ll head straight from the venue to the harbour (starting from 16.15).

Schedule August 30th

  • The programme will conclude at the Tallinn University conference centre at 16:00.

  • Shuttle buses between the conference venue and the port will run between 16:00 and 17:00. The drive to the port (Terminal A) takes about 15 minutes. Please note the luggage drop-off information below!

  • Boarding for the ferry ends at 17:30 and we will set sail at 18:00.

  • After dinner, the un-conferencing session will take place 18:30-20:00.

  • The ferry arrives in Helsinki and we disembark at 20:30.

  • Directly after we arrive you are welcome to join us for an informal meetup a short tram ride from the port.

  • If you wish to drop off any luggage at your hotel first, you are also welcome to join us later.

Upon your arrival to the conference, you will have the chance to drop off your luggage to assigned team members. Please take care of having all necessary items with you, as it will NOT be possible to access your luggage during the day.

As the programme ends on 30 Aug just shortly before the boat travel, we wish to ensure you make it to the ferry. That’s why we will transport your luggage to the port in advance.
