Tallinn

Central Tallinn and the Old Town are lovely areas for walking from one place to another. Public transportation is also available and there are several bicycle rental stations around the city.

The conference venue is the Astra building of Tallinn University, address Narva road 29.

 

Getting to and from the airport

By bus
The airport bus stops are located on the ground floor in front of the passenger terminal. Tallinn public transport bus No. 2. Timetable can be found here

By Taxi
Our recommended taxis are: Tallink Takso +372 640 8921 and Tulika Takso +372 612 0000
Important! Taxi rates are not limited by law in Estonia. Before you start your ride, make sure that the rate is acceptable to you. Approximate travel to the Tallink City Hotel is 3,5 km and to the conference venue 
5,1 km. It will cost around 8-15€

Getting to and from the conference venue

By tram (on Narva mnt)
The venue is about 2 km from city center. Tram number 3 (towards Kadriorg) will take you straight to Tallinna Ülikool (Tallinn University) stop and back to the city center (towards Tondi) leaving after every 7-10 min.

By bus (on Narva mnt)
Exiting the venue doors, 100m right, buses 1A, 5, 8, 19 drive you onwards the city center (Viru Keskus, Hobujaama station).

Getting around the city

You can find local public transportation information here and timetables here. The Tallinn public transport card as well as single tickets are valid in public city buses. Tickets are sold by the driver when you enter the bus. The cost of a single ticket is 2€

Car parking

Paid parking time in Kesklinn (downtown) area is 0,025€/min from 7.00 – 19-00, in Südalinn (very centre of the city) round the clock 0,08€/min. Public and private parking lots can be found here. Private parking lot EuroPark behind Tallinn University on Tuukri street 56 is closest to the venue – area code EP30 / 30min – 0,75€ / 24h – 4,5€. For payment possibilities look here.

Helsinki

MyData 2017 encourages you to enjoy Helsinki by walking and cycling (try the city bikes or ask for a bike from your hotel).

The venue, Kulttuuritalo or Helsinki Hall of Culture, is situated by Linnanmäki amusement park and near Helsinki city centre. The address of the venue is Sturenkatu 4.

 

Getting to and from the airport

By Bus
You can use the Finnair’s airport bus for everybody paying 6,70€ per trip (passing the venue, hop off at Porvoonkatu stop and continue walking after the bus 200m) or use the journey planner for possible buses from the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (please edit the ready-made journey planner search for preferred travel time)

By Taxi

It takes about 20 minutes to get to the venue (17 km) and will cost approx. 35-40€

Uber is not operational in Helsinki.

Getting to and from the conference venue

By Train
The venue is about 2,5 km North from the Main railway station, and about 1,5 km south from the Pasila railway station. All trains arriving in Helsinki stop first at Pasila and then (in 5 min) at the Main railway station that is the end stop of all trains. Here are some buses from the Pasila railway station to the venue. (A taxi from Pasila (13-15€) and from the Main railway station 17-20€)

By Bus
Bus 23 from the Rautatientori square and Pasila station runs to and from the facilities. Nearest local bus stops (On Sturenkatu) are
-when exiting the venue doors, 50 m right  (bus 23 towards the city / main railway station)
-when exiting the venue doors, 200m left  bus 23 (towards city) and 70T (towards Kamppi)

By Tram
Tram lines 1, 1A, 3, 8, and 9 all pass the Helsinki Hall of Culture. Nearest tram stops are (Next to Urheilutalo) – trams 1 and 3 towards city (Eastbound) and tram 8 towards Jätkäsaari (Westbound)

General cost is 5 € per day, 10€ per week, pre-registration and credit card payment in the net required. The nearest (300m down the Sturenkatu, south-westbound)) city bike station is in the corner of Helsinginkatu and Sturenkatu.

Car parking

Very next to the conference venue (the north-east side), there is a public off-street parking lot with 16 spaces (plus one for invalid drivers). Maximum parking time is 4 hours. There are also on-street spaces on the Sturenkatu and on its side streets (zone 3 = 1€/h (Mon-Fri 9-21, max 1 or 4 h).

The nearest parking ticket machines are in Sturenkatu 6 (next lot to North-East, left from the entrance (your back toward doors)  and 11 (opposite side of the street). If you prefer the mobile parking payments (zone 3 = 1€/h + c.20c/transaction), it is operated by the international Easypark and the Finland-based Parkman
